Flights to Singapore

There is a huge choice of flights available from the UK to Singapore, with several daily non-stop departures...

British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Singapore Airlines all fly from London’s Heathrow to Singapore’s Changi Airport (SIN), taking around 13 hours to reach the city. Singapore Airlines also flies daily from Manchester.

Alternatively, take a connecting flight. Etihad, Emirates and Qatar fly via their Middle Eastern hubs from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle. Turkish Airlines also flies from Birmingham, London, Manchester and Edinburgh via Istanbul, while KLM goes through Amsterdam, Air France via Paris and Lufthansa via Frankfurt. SAS, Swiss and Finnair fly via Copenhagen, Zurich and Helsinki respectively.

If you want to make the long haul east before connecting, you can also consider Thai via Bangkok, Sri Lankan through Colombo or Malaysian via Kuala Lumpur.

You’ll arrive at Singapore Changi Airport, one of the best and the busiest on the planet. As an international air hub and popular stopover destination, the airside facilities here are fantastic.

The 36/36A bus service runs from the airport to central stops. The journey time is an hour and tickets cost two Singapore dollars (about £1). Shuttle bus services are available to all of the major hotels in Singapore (check if your hotel runs one). It’s likely to cost around $10 each but the door-to-door convenience might be worth the extra outlay.

Faster than the bus but just as cheap are the MRT trains. You’ll have to change at Tanah Merah station in either direction, but the entire journey to somewhere central, such as City Hall, should take no more than 40 minutes.

A taxi between the airport and the city costs between $20 and $40, depending on the traffic and the time (evening and peak-time surcharges apply).
